“When the phone rings and it's the ambulance coordinator telling you to expect your third major trauma for the shift you know you have the backing of a world class system, amazing senior clinicians and nurses with experience beyond belief.”

Attracting first-class, highly committed staff is a continuous process for the E&TC. Our service leaders are always interested in receiving expressions from healthcare professionals.

Our values

Our staff are expected to demonstrate and uphold our values: Integrity, Accountability, Collaboration and Knowledge. Our values provide the platform for the way we work and the decisions we make. Through this approach, our Vision and Mission are achieved.

Alfred Health aims to ensure all patients receive timely, high quality care consistent with their clinical needs. This principle applies to all our patients, those admitted as a result of emergency, elective surgery patients and those treated as outpatients through our specialist clinics. For our emergency patients this involves patients being assessed by a senior doctor who will provide their definitive care as soon as possible. Our care delivery system is based on a multi-disciplinary team approach to care. Each shift is staffed by a complement of both senior and junior medical and nursing staff; this enables a safe, supported practice environment to facilitate safe patient care delivery and experiential learning opportunities for all staff. Medical and nursing staff work collaboratively in the comprehensive assessment, person centred care planning and delivery of treatment of our patients for the entire duration of their stay in the Emergency & Trauma Centre.

The Emergency & Trauma Centre
The Department is a purpose built modern facility managing approximately 58,000 patients per year. The Centre has 51 treatment bays with 43 having full bedside monitoring and is arbitrarily divided into 5 main clinical areas.
